Marathon Loppet

Marathon Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Club is excited to offer the Marathon Loppet on March 8th.

 

What is a loppet? A loppet is a community ski event which includes both recreational and competitive elements. Sometimes referred to as a “citizen’s race” - participants challenge themselves mentally and physically to complete a course of varied terrain and length, focusing on achieving personal goals. All skill levels, ages, and cheerleaders are welcome!

 

To participate, arrive at the Marathon Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Club on March 8th at 10am and register for one of the following distances:

Full Marathon (42 km)

1/2 Marathon (21 km)

1/4 Marathon (10.5 km)

1/16 Marathon (2.6)

Participants will receive instructions on their course according to their distance upon registration.

 

The events will being in a "mass start" at 11:00, so everyone must be at the start line with equipment on by 10:55.

 

There is no fee to participate in the event for members of MCCSSC. Regular trail fees ($15/ individual) apply for non-members. Equipment rentals are available ($10/ skis, $5/ snowshoes).

 

There will be a pancake lunch in the MCCSSC chalet to celebrate completion of the event. All participants will receive a limited edition event sticker; prizes will be awarded to 1st place finishers in each event category.
